Habitat for Humanity Maui’s mission is to build decent housing and to renovate substandard housing on Maui in partnership with community volunteers and potential homeowners so that homelessness and substandard housing on Maui is eliminated. Habitat for Humanity Maui has a building program where they build single family or multi-family housing for those in need. Habitat for Humanity Maui also does critical repairs, renovations and retrofits with its “A Brush With Kindness” Program. This program helps families that are in need of critical repairs to their home to make it safe or small renovations such as a new roof to help repair a leaky roof. Retrofits include grab bars or ramps to accommodate a disabled or elderly resident so that they can remain in their home rather than have to go to an assisted living facility. Habitat for Humanity Maui’s ReStore accepts donations of new and slightly used construction/remodeling materials and resells them to the general public at 50% or below retail.
